Modern Renaissance

For this project I recreated famous Renaissance Portraits. Rather than using white women for accuracy, I decided to use women of color. European Art tends to be the most popular and praised in society, and the Renaissance is one of Europe's most popular eras. In many renaissance paintings black people are shown as servants for white people, and during this time period having black servants became a status symbol. In religious renaissance paintings people of color are shown as enemies of Christ or demons. I created this project to "change" history and show people of color in a better way.
